Isotretinoin (Accutane) 6–12 months after last dose. Skin is highly sensitive, increased risk of irritation, scarring, and delayed healing.

Chemical Peel (professional, medium/deep) 2–4 weeks (superficial), 4–6 weeks (medium/deep). Skin needs to fully recover; avoid overlapping exfoliation.

At-home chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA, retinol)3–5 days. Reduces risk of irritation or sensitivity during treatment.

Laser / IPL / Microneedling 2–4 weeks post-treatment (depends on intensity). Prevents irritation, hyperpigmentation, or compromised healing.

Botox / Dermal Fillers 1–2 weeks. Allows time for settling and prevents swelling or movement of product.

Waxing / Threading (face) 48–72 hours. Reduces risk of redness, sensitivity, and irritation during facial.

Microdermabrasion / Dermaplaning 5–7 days. Skin needs to calm; prevents over-exfoliation.

Recent sunburn/tanning bed exposure least 1–2 weeks. Skin is sensitive; risk of hyperpigmentation and irritation.

Active cold sore/herpes outbreak. Wait until fully healed. Facial treatments may trigger or spread an outbreak; antiviral prophylaxis may be required.

Topical prescription retinoids (tretinoin, adapalene) 3–5 days. Prevents excessive irritation when combined with exfoliating or active facials.

Oral medications causing photosensitivity. Consult the practitioner may require delays or modifications to treatment
